About this Speaker

Janet qualified as a teacher at Liverpool University in 1984 and has worked in maintained primary schools for 36 years. As a class teacher she taught all year groups in the primary age range. Her experience includes working in a school in a military community in Germany and working in 2 schools in the north-west where >95% of children spoke English as an additional language. Until her recent early retirement, she was the headteacher of a vibrant, diverse and successful 3-form entry community school in Manchester. Away from education she enjoys classical music, going to the theatre, belongs to 2 choirs, and is a long-suffering season ticket holder at Bolton Wanderers FC.
